International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) was
founded in 1958 consisting of trade association representing the bottled
water industry. The association includes international bottlers,
distributors and suppliers.
The membership to the association is open to all. Its members are both
the big giants and the small water bottle manufacturer. Apart from the
manufacturers, small and big dealers are also the member of this
association.
IBWA helps the government to develop strict regulations for bottled
water in order to ensure the greatest safety possible. The bottlers are
given membership on the condition that they must submit to an annual,
unannounced inspection administered by an independent internationally
recognized third-party organization.
The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) also takes steps to
improve the packaging standards to provide the highest quality, cost
effective and environmentally responsible containers possible. While
packaging environmental issue is given prime importance.
The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) has chalked various
policies to ensure the safety and the quality of bottled water. It
encourages the manufacturers to adopt multi-barrier approach, from
source to finished product thereby helping them to produce high quality
product. In order to prevent potential adverse events IBWA takes
necessary steps through monitoring and testing, risk assessment,
appropriate controls and procedures, and diligence. Apart from this
IBWA, supports a uniform comprehensive system of labeling standards for
bottled water. This helps the customers to access clear and accurate
information regarding bottled water.
