Double entry drum screens are perfect for
installation on large volume raw water intakes. They effectively remove
floating and suspended solids from the intake water, and protects pumps,
heat exchangers and other vital equipment. These drum screens may be
installed either as a single unit or as part of a two or three stage
system.

The double entry drum screens consist of a central steel shaft attached
with a cast iron hub to which a series of radial arms are or spokes are
fitted. The central shaft rotates within sealed roller bearings mounted
on joints that span the entrances to the drum. The steel cross members
are attached to the spokes to support the circular rims of the drum
assembly. The rim forms the framework to which screening media is
attached.
Water exits from the inside to the outside of the drum through mesh
panels. The mesh panels are arranged around its periphery and these mesh
panels are cleaned, with the assistance of gravity, by back washing at
deck level.
