Clarifier
The primary function of a
Clarifier is to separate solids from the incoming streams and to remove
it from the bottom of the Clarifier tank as quickly as possible. It
ensures minimum carryover in the Clarified stream. To determine the
efficiency of the Clarifier unit it is considered the key parameter. The
operational efficiency of the Clarifier is controlled by the
configuration and placement of following basic sections of Clarifier
unit :
Types of Products ¤ Reactor Clarifier The
reactor clarifier is a Solid Contact unit where settled sludge is
recirculated and mixed with the incoming stream. It is done in such a
way that the already settled particles form a nuclei for particle growth
through flocculation. It is created by controlled hydraulic movement of
the chemically conditioned inflow stream entering the Clarifier unit.
Flash mixing, flocculation and sedimentation are combined into a single
unit for efficient removal of suspended solids and other associated
impurities.
Reactor clarifier units have a major advantage as the smaller footprint.
The desired overflow clarity can be achieved at high upflow rates that
is ultimately attained by optimum placement of the overflow launders
radially or circumferentially. It is done in such a way that the water
upflow remains as vertical as possible with minimum disturbance to
solids settling. These units can be operated with or without sludge
blanket requirement. The flocculation unit is provided with variable
speed to adjust the conditions during varying process requirement in
actual operation. The flocculation zone is separated from the
Clarification zone physically through a metallic or non-metallic cone.
According to the size, the larger units are provided with bottom feed
while the smaller units are provided with side feed entry. These units
are available from small sizes and upto 50 M diameter & above. ¤ Circular Clarifier The circulat clarifier are provided in various options as below : Conventional Circular Clarifier with Central Drive: It is provided with a central rake drive mechanism that is supported on a bridge. Depending upon the clarifier tank size or plant requirement, the bridge can either be half bridge or full bridge. This is the most basic unit and is available in sizes upto 60 M diameter & above.
![]() ¤ Rectangular Clarifier Rectangular Clarifier has a friendly layout option providing minimum dead space between the units as these units can be placed on the common wall. The basic tank sizing will remain same in different options. The sludge removal arrangement is the basic key for its operational advantages. We can provide chain & scrapper sludge collector system of different widths for these Rectangular tanks. The widths can be upto 70' and length upto 200' & longer. These mechanisms can be made available with non-metallic components including Sprocket, Scrappers, and Chain. It ensure easier erection due to reduced weight and also longer life. The scrappers are driven through the chains on both ends of the tank. In turn it is carried on the sprocket mounted on the solid steel shafts running across the tank width and supported on the tank walls. ![]() These clarifiers can also be provided with travelling bridge scrappers. The scrappers are mounted on the bridge which moves on the steel rails along the length on the top of the tank wall. The bridge is driven through a drive that gets the electrical supply through an independently supported decorating cabling system either along the tank or above the tank wall depending upon the site requirement. The scrapper moves the settled solids towards the discharge section in the forward movement. In the reverse movement of the bridge, the scrapper is lifted up to the water level and it moves the floating scum in the opposite direction for further disposal. ![]()
