Softener De-Ionizers

Ion Exchange process is used for removing dissolved solids from water. This process is widely used for pure water generation used in Boiler Feed application or Cooling Tower etc.

Types of Products

Softener¤ Softener
Triveni offers a comprehensive range of Softeners used for removal of hardness from raw water. It is used for low pressure Boiler / Cooling Tower / Air Conditioning plant applications. This system comprises of vessel in MSRL / FRP construction. It is externally fitted with frontal pipe work and regeneration system and internally filled with cation resin. Resin is regenerated with brine (NaCl) after its exhaustion which normally governs as per the customer / system requirement.

¤ De Ionizers
The deionization system is made of cationic bed, anionic bed and combination of both known as mixed bed. They meet the requirement of high purity water for utility / process applications. Cations and anions are removed separately in this process in different units. It involves the usage of Weak Acid Cation, Strong Acid Cation, Weak Base Anion, and Strong Base Anion units depending on the ratio of its contents, the raw water characteristics, quality of treatment desired and capacity of the plant.

De Ionizers

Strong Acid Cation / Weak Acid Cation is used to remove all the cations from raw water, such as Ca++, Mg++, Na+, K+ etc. This unit has a MSRL / FRP vessel which is internally equipped with inlet distributor and bottom collecting system. Externally it is fitted with frontal pipe work and isolation valve. This unit is charged with cation resin which is regenerated with acid (HCl / H2SO4) after its exhaustion generally designed for once or twice in a day, however, governed by customer / system requirement.

Strong Base Anion ( SBA ) and Weak Base Anion ( WBA ) are almost similar as WAC / SAC units in construction. They are charged with anion resins and are regenerated with alkali (NaOH). SBA unit is employed for entire anion load i.e. EMA, silica and alkalinity whereas WBA unit takes care for EMA (equivalent Mineral Acidity) removals. Selection of the scheme and mode of regeneration depends on water characteristics, ratio of its content, capacity of the plant and desired treated water quality.

Mixed Bed units are used for polishing the treated water from Strong Base Anion Unit or RO plant. The MB units produce ultrapure water, which is needed for semi-conductor and micro-electronics industry applications, high pressure boiler feed water application, etc. During the process, cation and anion resins are mixed in single vessel. Water is passed through resin bed where ions are exchanged. Both resins are first separated from each other for the regeneration of MB unit. It is done so by applying upward water-flow due to specific gravity difference. Once resins are separated, alkali is applied on anion resins while acid is applied on cation resin to regenerate these resins. MB vessel have specific frontal piping arrangement for the regeneration of resins.
